Nicole creates large-scale public installations that share short pieces of writing she originally wrote for herself. They read like journal entries or small, tender poems, reminders of things she needs to hear. Placed anonymously into the world, these messages are meant to be stumbled upon. Her words have appeared on billboards, airplane banners, barges, and wheat-pasted posters, including in Times Square, and have reached more than 150 million people worldwide. This body of work received an Obie lifetime achievement award for its global impact.
